Yes, M'am, We Take Our Rrrrolling Very Seriously...

It is that time of year again. No, not the time when the weather is beautiful and the snow melts away (although here it is doing exactly that).

It is that time of year that Tim Horton's has its RRRoll Up the Rim to Win contest.

For those that read this blog and haven't had the opportunity to visit this institution, you have to understand that the coffee they serve has become a staple in our diets, just as much as meat and potatoes.

So, we ritually visit Tim Horton's buy our coffee and slurp it back so we can roll up the rim to see if we have won.Frame - About A Boy by Vera Lim for Prima Hybrid

And of course you can see that yet again, I haven't won a thing. Not a donut, no free coffee. Nada. Which is typical for me. In all the years that I have participated in this tradition, I believe I have won twice. Which is sad because they give away over 3 million prizes!

But still I subject myself to numerous visits, hoping that I may get something.

So off to Timmys to have my coffee and a donut with sprinkles for Jake.
We order. We sit down.
As the both of us savour our purchases, I look around. The place is full as usual. And I observe. Here we sit, clutching our cups like gold. Meticulously rolling up our rims to see. Hoping that we get one of the 31 cars they give away, but really expecting a donut. Regardless, we covet this cup.

So there I sit watching the group of bikers leave their table and zoom off . And what do I see?

I can't believe it. I am shocked.

There sits a cup that has not been rolled up. Well, this is completely wrong. It is like breaking an unwritten law. It just doesn't happen.

So there I sit in complete unease. What is under the rim? I need to know. And there the debate in my mind begins. Do I go over there and pick this virgin cup off the table? I'd look like such a garbage picker. But on the other hand, I may be finding something big! C'mon Canadians, you all remember that story about the school kids that got that car.

And after all that debate in my mind of do I or don't I, I chose to save my pride and walk away. The sad thing about that is after a few hours after this visit, it still bothers me.

And onto other things.....

I didn't scrap one thing this weekend. Nothing. Instead, I have prepared the house for the impending visit of my parents. That and we snuck out to visit the Red Deer home show. However, I have to show you. Earlier this week I was practicing my photoshop skillz on some heritage pictures. They are far from perfect, but they are much better than the originals.

This is a before photo of my Aunt, Uncle and my Dad (the baby in the middle).

And the after...

I told you, far from perfect, but vastly better. I did some cloning to get rid of the tear, and then created sever adjusted layers and blended them together until I got what I liked. When it comes right down to it, there doesn't seem to be any real deep techniques, it was mainly a lot of playing around.

I'll try to check in later this week. I am going to do some stamping stuff this week and I am going to force my mother to join me in my exploits. The woman is artsy fartsy when she wants to be. Heck, that is where I got it from!

Later!
