Howdy! Tonight, I came back from picking up my passport. I am so excited to know that I can go anywhere in the world! So I leaf through it, looking at the precious document. And it looks so important. So formal. The only thing that tarnishes that is the fact that they strive to make your picture

so awful.

I look like I just got picked up out of the gutter! Yucky.

Oh well, onto better things.

Holy Moly, I am freezing! -50 degrees Celsuis here. Can you believe that?

Ridiculous I say.

My car is definitely complaining about it. She sure whines when I wake her up to get to work. She's a trooper though. She managed the rough roads of Edmonton on Monday, so kudos to her.

I went up to Edmonton to visit Trisha's house on Saturday and loving what started out as mild weather. Off we went for our regular trip to Treasured Memories sporting sweaters. But as Sunday rolled around, the wind picked up and the temp went down. It made the roads waaay to dangerous to travel, so Jake and I spent some more time hanging out. Which was a good thing because Trish had me busy. I wish I had some scrappy pics right now, but check back, I will when I can.

All I can say is this.....

Keep an eye out for her and Michelle Van Etten, they have some exciting things to tell you and I am very proud of both those ladies. And don't worry, I'll make sure you don't miss the message!

Oh, and so sweet gotta tell you! Whn I did this digital page, like I said, I used a quote from my grandfather, Harry Wahl.

Giggity, Giggity! Fun Girly weekend and some news!

Hey everybody! Friday night and I am relaxing with the hubby and doing a little bit of packing. Tomorrow I am off to go have a playdate with Trisha. Cool, scrappy goodness will be afoot and some retail therapy at Treasured Memories. Always love shopping there. Hopefully, will also go visit DeSerres at the world's largest mall!

Oooh, and I am excited! I gotta tell you. I am going to be teaching!

The fabulous Allison Orthner is coordinating a weekend retreat called Scrapbook Your Heart at Camp Caroline, Alberta! I am so happy to be a part of this. I will be working alongside Allison and the talented Cari Locken !

The weekend will be filled with projects and scrapbooking that really focuses on the everyday moments, people and things that are truly important. We have lots of fun thing plans and I look forward to getting to hang out and getting to meet fellow scrapbookers! Love meeting others that share what I love doing. Hope to see you there!

Oh, and before I scee-dattle and get back to packing and hanging with hubby, I want to congratulate my friend Leica Forrest on her pregnancy!

Digital goodness.......

Since y'all know that I love digital, I have been busy taking in the products at Prima Hybrid and I love what I see! A lot of my favorite digital designers are over there creating some beautiful products!

This one I just used my favorite quote in the whole world. It is from my grandfather Harry Wahl during one of his parliamentary speeches in Saskatchewan in the 1950's. Although he passed away before I was born, I have been told by many who knew him that he was a man that was honest, heartfelt, wise and happy. I wish I could have met him.

Out and About.....

I gotta say, I am so happy there is snow around here. Lots of the white stuff is falling but with that cold wind, it hasn't been nice enough to get to play outside. So instead of bundling up and freezing to death, my neighbour and I took our boys out to Bee Movie. Meh. Not my favorite kids movie, but the kids loved it and that was the main thing.

And.....

I gotta tell you about a new blog called Explore, Experience & Expand Your Mind. It is run by a lady named Janie Grohman.

First of all, let me say, I know Janie from Two Peas in a Bucket and she is always busy pointing out the talents of fellow scrapbookers. Love that! Well, she turned it into a blog! She features a scrapbooker a day there, has a little interview with them, and points out their blog .

I absolutely think it is a wonderful idea!

I want to give her a big thank you, as today she featured me, but also for bringing to light other talented scrapbookers that deserve some kudos for outstanding work.

Other than that, I have an evening to myself, and I am playing with a project. Just popping in while I let something dry, LOL! So everybody enjoy your weekend!

More Hybrid. All the Cool Kids are doing it.

I told you, I am all about hybrid! It is just so easy to open a file, plop down my digital papers, then my photos and some drop shadows, journaling and then maybe some other digital elements if I feel like it. Print it off and voila! Mix with traditional papers and embellishments. Easy peasy!

I love this because it is so bright and fun. The Hybrid portion is the pictures, the green digital paper and the journaling. I then used some Prima Marketing and Daisy D's paper, a little Bazzill Cardstock and we're good to go!.

Making cards.....

Today I played around with making some cards. I haven't made cards in quite a while and I thought it would be the perfect thing to use some of that Prima embossed chipboard. I absolutely love the stuff. It's very pretty stuff. The designs are so sweet!

As you can see, I made a love themed card and a thank you card and I am quite pleased with both of them. I did a bit of stamping with those lovely Build A Frame Stamps by Iron Orchid Designs and a my new favorite supply Twinkling H2Os! Follow me, I'll show you what else I did with my cards and particularly that gorgeous embossed chipboard.......


On the "love" card, the embossed chipboard was lightly washed with my Twinkling H2Os. The more water you use on them the less intense the colors appear for a nice "washed out" look. This shows up particularly well on the heart in the top right-hand side.

The embossed tag has the same paint used, however, once it was dry, I used my white Sakura Souffle Pens to color over the embossed portion of the tag, just like the card in this post. I loved this, so I had to try it for myself!

After I did that, I applied my rub on and stamped a border with Prima Buid-A-Frame stamps.

On those flowers, I painted them with the Twinkiling H2Os with the same technique that I showed you in this post right here. I love the look of this technique because it really gives the flowers some extra depth and detail.

On my thanks card, again, I gave it a wash with those fabulous Twinkling H2Os, only this time I used less water for a more intense color. And again, I used my grey Sakura Souffle Pen on the embossed portion, but I took it a step further. I gently distressed the embossed portions with actually turned a darker grey for a two-tone effect, as you can see in the above photo.

I finished off the chipboard by distressing the edges to let some of the brown of the chipboard to show through.

And lastly, I just had to show you these Prima Flower Centers just because I love bling! They are so dainty too.

Now go rush to the store, you got some playing with chipboard to do!

A couple toots, some really cool stuff, I am excited about a Little Toot and Sitting on Pins and Needles!

Today is such a cool day for me. It's an exciting scrappy day. So much so, that I mentioned a toot in my title twice, LOL.

I am busy working on some projects for submissions and I am seriously embracing hybrid scrapbooking. You know this summer, I really got into the digital stuff and it just really went from there. Now, I have always, since I started scrapbooking, done journaling and the odd bit of graphics on my pictures and enjoyed playing with photos, but now I have really embrace digital papers and seeing how they will mix with my much accued paper stash. Gotta use that up and get my fingers inky or it just wouldn't be right.

And now to the point of all that.

So, I am stalking the Prima Blog (I'll explain that too), when I come across......

Prima Hybrid!

Holee heck, could it get any better than that? Love Prima, am lovin' hybrid and they come out with this??!!?!? WOOT! Love it and it is only a CHA Winter sneek peek!

So now onto the stalking.....

Why the stalking? A few of you gals know that I entered the Prima Design Team Call because seriously, I love their stuff. I never really realized how much Prima I have actually used on pages and projects until I started prepping my entry for this call. And I am LOVING the Iron Orchid stuff. Even faired not to shabbily on this contest back in March of last year!

Seriously, to sum it all up into one big statement, I'd love to land on their DT because I love their stuff. Please send the good vibes and I promise if I don't get a call, I won't pout.

Well, I might pout a little, but only to the confines of my couch and a box of chocolate.

However, I must must must wish luck to all the ladies that entered along with me, and good luck to the people pouring over to the entries. I am sure you don't have an easy task.

Look to the left of this entry, and you will see some links to great scrappy blogs. I like to include great links for you to follow, but also because a lot of those great links are to my friends. Again, surfing my friends blogs the other day and as usual, I am reading up on Leica Forrest's blog because she always has some great things going on 'round there. Lo and behold, she listed me as one of her favorite blogs. What a sweetie! I think I had an in though, I am orginally from Saskatchewan. Nah, but I always cheer for my home province scrappers. Kidding aside, Saskatchewan has some scrappy talent.

And I have to send a big kudos for this tin. My girly-friend Anam Stubbington inspired me to do this tin because of a project she created using the same tin and mini album. Now, Anam, I was going to link it, where did you put it online? Tsk, tsk! I can't find it!

note to readers about the previous statement (pssst, lean in here): just know that Anam's work kicks butt and I fully recommend that despite not seeing her version of that tin, she has some really neato stuff on her blog that you should check out anyways.

Told You I Was Busy........

I don't know what it is with Hubby and ice fishing with me. I come home from work and there he stands at the sink with at least a couple of fish. Brags to no end how many fish were there. So, the time comes that I go out to that same spot and not one fish to be found.

Nothing. Nada. Skunked.

Oh well, at least someone in the house is catching them!

Friday night we decided to try a new recipie with the whitefish we caught and holah! Delish! We found the little gem in the pages of Outdoor Canada.

Whitefish Florentine

Serves 4.

1 lb. spinach

1/2 tsp. sugar

2 tbsp. butter

2 tbsp. all-purpose flour

1 1/4cups milk

3/4 cup mushrooms, thinly sliced

3/4 cup grated Swiss cheese

2 tbsp. chopped parsley

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/2 to 3/4 tbsp. nutmeg

1 lb. whitefish fillets

Wash spinach thoroughly and pack into a saucepan. Sprinkle with sugar, cover and cook over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Lift lid and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Drain and spread spinach on the bottom of a greased 1½-quart casserole dish. Set aside. Next, in same saucepan melt butter, stir in flour and cook over low heat for 1 minute. Add milk and stir to blend; cook until slightly thickened. Add mushrooms, cheese, parsley, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Stir until cheese is melted. Next, spread fillets over spinach and pour sauce over fish. Bake at 350ºF for 30 minutes

Anyways enough fish tales, here is something scrappy......

That wasn't the only thing I did. I created a fun little Maya Road mini album. It was so much fun to do too. And I am also willing to teach it at any local scrapbook stores or retreats too.

Ring in the New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone! I think 2008 is gonna be a good year. I feel it. It came in a little rocky the past few days, I suffered from the retched holiday hangover.

No, I wasn't partying too much on New years, in fact it was fairly laid back and spent with my pregnant neighbour! No, I spent the last two days with a ridiculous headache. I think it was the change of pace getting back into the routine of work that threw me off. So, no creating the past couple of days.

But I am back at it later tonight. But for now, I just had to pop in and send some greetings for now! Be back later!
